The image of a woman cradling an infant, also known as the Madonna and Child, is depicted in thousands of paintings from many cultures and historical periods. The concept of a mother and child is the most basic unit of any form of life. I find this relationship to be the most innocent and pure form of love anyone could possibly know.

As my debut chair, I want it to be a piece of celebration, a chair that would celebrate the care, strength, warmth, and victories of mothers. While conceptualizing this piece, I wanted the user to be a part of the sculpture, that once you sit on the chair, you become the child of Madonna.

The question is, how do I pay homage and translate the Madonna and Child into a furniture piece? The answer is this lounge chair. Hence, the name Donna.
